Photo of the Week

Time

SONY DSC

These are the two women in my life that I love more than anything. This picture was taken on my grandma’s ninetieth birthday; she’s in the foreground, the other woman in the back is my mom.

I live as an expat and don’t get to spend much time with my family. As my grandma is not getting any younger, we only see each other whenever I get the chance to visit home. Well, let’s just say it’s not as often as I would like it to be, which also means missed birthdays and Christmases, more than I care to admit. Time we could have and should have spent together. And sad as it is to face it, time is what we don’t have a lot of; or rather never seem to have enough of.

My grandma was born in 1922 and lived through not only a World War, but other turbulent historical events. She’s lived so long, seen so much. Yet there is so much she hasn’t seen, so much I’d like to show her. If only we had enough time.

This post is in response to The Daily Post’s weekly photo challenge: Time.
