Transition this time of the year inevitably makes me think of the changing of the seasons. With the end of November we progress into winter, and preparation for Christmas starts soon after. The falling of the last leaves is a painful, yet hopeful reminder of that. Most of us see winter as the season of death, decorate it pretty to take our minds of something passing; we put the colourless landscapes out of sight, so they’re out of mind.
I see winter as a season of slumber, a time of introspection on those long silent nights so many are afraid of, and also a time of regaining strength before reemerging anew.
